We bring a year-round, three-pronged approach to our work: we combine modern dance, education, and community outreach in order to better ourselves and our communities.
We use creative techniques modeled from the body's natural movement in our modern dance curriculum, for a fulfilling and non-competitive learning environment for each dancer, no matter their own experience, age, or race.
We also incorporate mental health education into our programming - the health of our minds is just as important as the health of our bodies. The
Mental Health Resource Team (MHRT) of therapists and licensed counselors are available if/when our students need support. Each student is enrolled in our Individual Development Program, designed for more personalized development of technique, leadership, self-esteem, confidence, choreography, and performance skills.
Finally, our community involvement is our way of rooting ourselves in and serving our neighborhoods and cities. At the end of each season, we put on a dance showcase that's centered around a theme important to our community, and we tell the stories of our community through dance and spoken word. In the past, we've worked through topics like homelessness, bullying, and racism.
We also hold block parties and other community partnership events throughout the year.
Each year, we gather over a hundred stories about our seasonal topic that affect people in our area.
Our Dance Program is open to all ages as an opportunity to represent our Community
We focus on teaching modern dance to those of all ages and experience levels using techniques modeled after our bodies’ natural movement. Our year round program meets weekly with dance education beginning in August - April in the studio and May-July immersed within the community with educational resources and outreach. With an annual showcase that’s centered around a theme in our community like childhood hunger or breast cancer—we alternate between health and social issues each year. We tell both our own and others’ stories through the powerful medium of dance.
